Valuation Demonstration

Tim and Nicholle separated on the 1st of April 2003. As part of the property settlement process, Tim wants to value their separate superannuation interests.

Watch how we can value Tim's superannuation, and get an estimate of Nicholle's superannuation, using SuperValuers online superannuation valuations!

Part One: Tim's Valuation

You enter Tim's details in the first screen.

Be careful! If you get any wrong, you cannot come back and fix any details entered here - but you can fix mistakes made in all the other steps. So make sure you double check what you've entered on this page before going to the next step.

You choose the type of valuation here: a valuation based on a Form 6 Response, or an estimation, done with information from the member's statement or from the call centre.

You also choose the Relevant Date here. The Relevant Date could be the date of marriage, the date of separation, the date of hearing, the current date or the court order or agreement date.

A SuperValuers Valuation gives you do valuations under as many relevant dates as you need for the one person for the one payment!

In this case, we're valuing Tim's super at the date of separation.

Each Scheme has a few specific numbers that need to be entered.

We are doing a valuation, so these numbers can be found on Tim's Form 6 response.

Payment is either made upfront via credit card, or by monthly account.

In our example, we are paying by monthly account, so no payment details need to be recorded.

And that's it! Clicking on Value will let us value Tim's superannuation at another date.

Clicking on report will open up Tim's superannuation valuation. The valuation is a PDF document, which requires Adobe Acrobat to read.

See Tim's valuation.
Part Two: Nicholle's Valuation

We click on 'New Valuation' to start Nicholle's estimation. Because we've already done a valuation for Tim, he is listed under Existing Members.

If we wanted to do another valuation for Tim, all we'd have to do is click on his name.

But we're doing a valuation for Nicholle, so we enter her details and hit next.

We don't have a Form 6 Response for Nicholle, so we choose 'Estimation'.

We choose the same relevant date that we chose for Tim.

  We enter Nicholle's information.

We go through the payment step again.

We have completed Nicholle's estimated valuation!

Just like with Tim, we can do another valuation, or we can view a report of Nicholle's valuation.

See Nicholle's valuation.
