The Directors and Employees of SuperValuers Pty Ltd (ACN 105 662 477) are committed to respecting the privacy of all users' personal information.
Users are individuals who visit the website and may obtain valuations of superannuation interests for themselves or on behalf of another individual for whom they hold the necessary authority.
Personal information is information that identifies an individual or allows an individual to be identified. An individual’s name, address telephone number and email address are all examples of an individual’s personal information. We are committed to applying the National Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 to protect an individual’s privacy.
1. SuperValuers Pty Ltd
SuperValuers Pty Ltd is a company whose principal activity is the provision of valuations of superannuation interests in accordance with the Family Law Act. Such a role requires us to collect personal information.
2. Collection of Information
We only collect personal information about an individual that is necessary to carry out valuations. For example, we collect information about individual that is necessary to:
- identify the association between an individual and a superannuation scheme,
- calculate a superannuation valuation,
- communicate that result to the individual or his or her authorized representative, normally a solicitor,
- hold certain information relevant for the purposes of maintaining accounts (account holders are normally solicitors) and for billing purposes, and
- store the results for later access and for record keeping mandated by relevant laws.
When we ask for information to provide a valuation of a superannuation interest and that information is not provided, then it may delay or prevent the valuation of your superannuation interests.
3. Use and Disclosure
We generally use and disclose an individual’s personal information for purposes related to the main purpose for which the information was gathered. We may also use or disclosure an individual’s personal information if the individual has consented to that use or disclosure. For example, if an individual authorizes another party such as a solicitor to access previous valuations. We will only disclose an individual’s personal information to these third parties on a confidential basis so that the service provider can effectively provide those services.
Your personal information will not be used or disclosed for any other purpose without your consent, except where required by law. For example, to the ATO for tax related purposes and for Family Law purposes.
4. Accessing and updating personal information
An individual may request access to their personal information or request us to correct information that we hold about them. To make a request, please put your request in writing using the contact details listed below.
We require as many details as possible about the information requested in order for us to retrieve it. We will also require proof of your identification before we can provide you with access to your personal information.
In some circumstances, we may not be required by law to provide an individual with access or to correct their personal information. If this is the case, we will provide the individual with reasons for our decision.

We take reasonable steps to protect all of the personal information we hold from misuse and loss and from unauthorized access, modification or disclosure. This protection applies in relation to information stored in both electronic and hard copy form.
6. The SuperValuers Website
This section outlines the way we handle personal information that we collect when an individual uses the SuperValuers website owned by SuperValuers Pty Ltd under the domain name, www.supervaluers.com.au. We outsource the hosting of the website to a third party service providers. We may disclose personal information about an individual to our service providers so that they can effectively provide those services.
Collection of personal information
An individual may visit the website without providing us with any personal information. However, we may collect personal information about an individual accessing the web site if they use the "contact us" section of the website.
In addition, when an individual accesses the website for valuation purposes, they may provide us with personal information about themselves or another individual. For example, an alternative email address may be provided or an authorized representative of the individual (normally a solicitor) may provide or update personal information about an individual.
If an individual provides us with personal information via the website, we will treat that information in accordance with our general personal information management practices as outlined in this Policy.
Use of cookies and web tracking
We do not use cookies on the website to collect information about an individual, however we do make use of them to maintain login information for the members' section. If an individual has configured their browser to reject cookies, the functionality of the member's section of the website may be affected.
In order to manage the website, our service provider collects information on the use of the website. The information our service providers collect for this purpose may include:
- the top level domain (eg .au or .uk) of the individual;
- the length of time the individual spends on the website;
- the pages of the website the individual visits; and
- the page of this website that the individual exits the website from.
When an individual accesses the website but does not log in as an account holder, the web tracking information that is collected by our service provider does not identify an individual personally and is not matched with any information that could personally identify an individual.
We do not track which sites an individual visits after they leave the website.
